Excerpt:

One
My computer screen pinged inside the quiet space of my small
trailer, and a shiver of excitement ran up my spine. The hours today had been
brutal, long, and I was tired.
Cranky.
Fucking horny.
Reaching over, I pulled my laptop next to me on the small
couch and opened the browser. I knew who it was. Not one motherfucking doubt in
my mind. It was her.

My
girl. The woman who had, unbeknownst to her, consumed every goddamned minute of
my days and nights.
Swiping my finger across the mouse pad, I opened my Facebook
account—the one no one knew I kept—and smiled. Every day, at that time, she
would send me the same greeting.
A simple hello.
Lucia: Hey babe!
What a dangerous greeting. Calling me that term of
endearment when all I wanted—fucking yearned for—was a taste of her skin. For
her to writhe beneath me while I took what her body would willingly give.
DevA: I’m up. Tired, but seeing your
smiling face makes it all better.
And wasn’t that the truth; I was rock hard as I stared at
her profile picture, my palm pushing down against my engorged flesh to
alleviate some of the pain she’d created. Conjuring dirty thoughts of her, I
released my cock and stroked my hands downward once.
Lucia: You’re too sweet!
Yeah, that’s me. One sweet motherfucker.
A bead of liquid seeped out from my tip, and my finger
swiped across my slit to catch it—used it on my next downward stroke as
lubrication.
“Fuck, yeah,” I grunted, tightening the hold I had on my
cock while opening her pictures. There was one album I loved more than all the
others. All her. No friends or family on the beach. Selfies taken of different
body parts: her legs, chest…those swollen, bee-stung lips that caused me to
push my hips up and fuck my hand.
I fucking abused myself for her. In her name.
DevA: Can’t wait to meet face to
face. Only a few days left!
There, that should fucking hold her until I finished. My
strokes became faster, angrier as I continued to flip through each picture.
There’s nothing sexier to me than a woman with ink.
Lucia: You are coming, right?
“Fuck, yes.” My finger hovered over the screen. Over the
picture of her tiny rabbit tattoo barely peeking out from beneath her bikini
bottoms. “I’m going to fucking come all over that spot, you hot little…fuck!” I
roared as spurt after spurt of hot come fell from my tip and onto my lower
stomach.
Lucia: You there?
“I don’t give a fuck what you believe in, but you better
pray hard. I’m going to fucking destroy you as you have done me. Not one single
inch of you will remember any man before me.”
DevA: I’m here and baby girl, God
himself couldn’t stop me from coming to see you.

From coming for you.

Leaving the familiar comfort of her UK home for a weekend in Texas is one of the craziest things Charlotte Evans has ever done. Celebrating her birthday with friends is the highlight of her year until she bumps into her favourite rock star, literally.

Gage Weston is used to having women fall over themselves at his feet … A rock star, an actor, he’s got his fair share of female attention, but what is it about the Brit that grabs his attention from the moment they meet?

Communication issues and crossed wires plague them as they try to work out what is going on with them across thousands of miles. Crazy friends and distance issues aside; can a relationship work, or is it a simple case of ‘a girl in every town’?

“Oh shit!” I didn’t know what to do with myself, and was thankful Gage was standing in front of me, hiding my modesty. “Just fucking great.” I groaned as I hid my face in his chest. It was then I realised we were still connected . . . physically.

“Don’t ever hide like that.” Gage lifted my head up to face him and gave me a gentle kiss before turning his head to look back at the girl still standing behind us. “Can we help you?” He wasn’t smiling, and the effect was a little scary.

“How could you do this to me?” she spat. “I asked you to introduce me, but really you just wanted to keep them to yourself. Who’s next? Matt? Eli? Hey, how about Drew, even though he’s married?”

“Woah woah. Hang on there a minute, lady. For one, I never said I was going to introduce you to anyone; If you remember, I gave you advice, which is more than most people would do. As for who or what I do is none of your business.” I felt Gage’s body shake as he started to laugh silently.

“I can get you a quiet place with Callaghan if you so desire.” He sniggered, making my body shake against the table. I punched him on the arm, which only made him laugh harder.

Synopsis

How do I dominate and enamor the woman who’s in charge of signing my paycheck?

That’s the one question, Joshua Timbers, has been asking himself since he first stepped foot into his own personal Hell. JT, or Yoshi—as his tormentor likes to call him—has lived a life of hardship and loss since an early age. Being the product of a single parent home, he’s accustomed to hard work and lonely nights.

Seeing the strong man that raised him suffer after the loss of his mother made JT’s own heart harden. All that mattered was seeking instant gratification to curve his enormous appetite.

Until the blessed day he met his fallen angel, Janelle.

Beautiful, and with balls bigger than her entire crew, Janelle is accustomed to the leering looks of men, even though she’s their boss—the owner of Walker Constructions, alongside her brother.

Her beauty is untouchable to everyone, but how far will Joshua go to bend his hellion to his will and make her his?

Teaser 1

Excerpt

“You wanted to see me?” At the sound of my voice, Janelle jumped in her seat. A tiny gasp escaped through her plumps lips, her eyes widening as our eyes locked. Gone was the secure seductress from earlier today. The one who walked through the job site’s parking area, hips swaying enticingly, while I held on for dear life to a slab of granite that she’d kill me for if I’d dropped.

Giving me shit while I couldn’t react. Not without consequences.

“Yeah, I…” She cleared her throat, swallowing hard as her eyes traversed my almost naked torso. It was my turn to be cocky.

“Eyes up here, sweetheart.” She didn’t like that one bit, the furrow in her brow and pursed lips telling me as much. “What’s up?”

Janelle sat behind her desk, a file open in front of her. Yet, except for those few papers strewn about, you couldn’t find any other sign of work. Not a goddamned receipt, invoice, or contract.

Then why did she look so tired? I’d be more than happy to discover what ailed her and take care of her every need. Teach her the pleasure I could give. How relaxed I’d leave her after taking what so sweetly hid between her thighs.

Taking in a deep breath, my girl squared her shoulders before standing up. Then, when she stood, I took in that she’d changed clothes. Gone was the sexy little number from before, the one that wrapped around her fucking beautiful body like a second skin and held a tiny bow across her hip.

I wanted to bite that string, hold it tight between my teeth, and like a rabid dog destroy it.

Now, she stood before me in something that could be a bit more dangerous for her—for the both of us. There she was; the picture of come-inducing innocence.

Denim fucking overalls.

These were not the standard Dickies brand work ones that came to mind. No. Fuck, no.

Janelle didn’t do simple. These were shorts; indecent and showed more than what was acceptable for this line of work. If she’d bent over just a tiny bit, her ass would peek out.

And my handprint would adorn the succulent flesh. I’d be fucked if she showed herself to anyone.

My eyes traveled up her body, and she shivered at my unapologetic perusal. So much skin. Temptation. Damn woman knew what her coy bullshit did to me.

“What the fuck are you wearing!” This wasn’t meant as a question; more like an angry demand for answers. Underneath her overalls she wore a simple white tube top. Tiny. Cropped. Barely covered her breasts. “Are you kidding me right now?”

I’d attack her little ass. Who could blame me after all the cat and mouse games we played?

“This old thing?” Batting her lashes, Janelle smiled at me. Baiting me into action.

“Are you looking to get fucked? Because if that’s what you want—”

“More like a ride.”

Her naturally perky tits held up by what seemed to be Lycra, nothing more. No bra strap. Just a quick tug—a pull, and I’d be savoring her taste. Enjoying the heaviness and natural sweet aroma she exuded.

“Janelle, walk away before I take what you aren’t ready to give.” I was vibrating; my hands clenched at my sides as a raging war battled within me. A man could only take so much. “Lord knows I’m trying here, but you keep pushing. Enough already…bend over, or let’s get out of here.”

“Eyes up here, Yoshi,” she snapped, mock anger coloring her tone at my abrasive words. But the quick inhale of air she took while I walked closer didn’t escape my notice. Her hands shook slightly, as if she wanted to reach out and touch me.

“And if I refuse?” Another step, her body trembling—just a slight uncontrollable shiver that she tried and failed to hide.

“Please.” Fuck. That one word—her tone, and I was putty in her motherfucking hands.

“Why should I?” Then, it wasn’t just her body that shook—shivered from anticipation. There wasn’t a single molecule of my DNA that didn’t want her.

Felt her presence.

Her damn hold on me.

Tethered in a way I had no way to explain.

“We can’t…just please.” Her voice was soft, breathy as she tried to put an invisible wall between us. She failed.

“I love hearing you beg,” I admitted, and she didn’t disappoint. There it was. That spark. The fire I’d come to expect from her. “Plus, I’m enjoying this too much to stop.”

“Fuck you.” Strike one. “And why should I beg? Men fall at my feet, Yoshi. I don’t bow down to anyone.” Janelle ran the tip of her tongue across her bottom lip and took her own step forward. Challenging me. Her reactions were making me dizzy.

One minute telling me to stop.

The next daring me to take her.

That entire room sizzled with our intensity.

Now, she was within my reach. So close. A mere two steps away.

Pulling her supple body against mine would be so easy. And she knew this, was aware of my every breath—every twitch of my cock against the denim of my jeans. Evading me as my hand reached out for her, and I growled out my displeasure.

“Answer me, Yoshi,” she taunted, while tapping that bottom lip I craved to taste. “Why should I beg?” Another groan left me at the sight. I wanted to grab her. Fuck her against that goddamned desk she was always bent over. Another step closer, and now we were almost touching.

Her heat seared me.

Instead of touching me, though, the sexy bitch decided to walk around me, all the while running a slim finger across my shoulder blades and chest.

“Quit fucking with me,” I all but snarled at her, body seizing, ready to devour my prey. “I’m not into games, sweetheart…bend over or move.” Because that’s what this was. A game. Survival of the fittest. Motherfucking prey versus predator.

Long Lost Family

An Unedited Excerpt

The shuffling near the front door caught her attention, but Lisa didn’t turn around. Tensing, she clung to the couch in an almost futile attempt to gather strength for the fight she knew was coming.

“So you’re really not letting me see the boys today?”

“You lied,” she whispered, her voice thick and hoarse from tears.  “Is Christopher even your real name?”

Behind her, her husband cleared his throat but didn’t answer. Nothing would dig him out of the hole he’d created, and frankly he was tired of all the fighting.

“It’s funny.” Lisa shook her head, forcing out a humorless laugh. “After all this time and after everything I’ve tried … I still ended up just like my mother. I watched her—year after year, guy after guy losing herself. Changing herself for these losers that weren’t worth her spit. I swore I’d never be like that.” She snapped her head around to face him. Guarded eyes stared back at her. A hard set jaw unflinching and unwelcoming.  She’s caved to that look dozens of times over the years, but today, she refused to back down. “Then you came along. You are the one who wanted a wife, and a family, and a home. You’re the one who asked me you marry you. Everything you’ve ever wanted I’ve given you. Everything I do, every breath I take revolves around you and the boys. All you’ve ever had to do was tell me the truth. That’s all. I’ve done everything for you and you couldn’t do this one thing for me.”

“Would you have said yes?” Christopher’s deep voice cut through the moment. “If I’d told you—if you had known what I’d done. Where I’d come from, and who I was. Would we have had all of this?” He gestured around the room. A broken picture frame still lied on the ground. “Would you have married me then?  Would you have had my children knowing the blood that would run through their veins? Would you have fought to make a life with me? Tell me now that my past wouldn’t have made a difference, and I’ll get on my hands and knees and beg for your forgiveness.”

“No,” Lisa admitted after a long, reflective stretch of silence.

“Then stop demanding an apology we both know you don’t deserve.”

“An apology I don’t deserve?” she repeated in shock.  The words echoed in her ears, rattling her brain and shattering every shred of desire she had left to deal with this version of her husband—this stranger that had infiltrated their lives. Six months ago, he would have moved heaven and earth to make up for something asinine like forgetting the milk on his way home from work. Now, after being faced with their very existence being a lie, she wasn’t worthy of getting a simple ‘I’m sorry.’

“I would say I don’t even know who you are anymore, but the truth is I never did, did I?”

International Anti-Street Harassment Week: My name is NOT “Pssttt”

I didn’t even know Anti-Street Harassment week was a thing,  but now that I do I am disappointed I missed it.

Race aside, every woman who has had to walk down a city street or block has experienced street harassment in some form. And despite what some may think, it’s nearly always unwelcome.

In response to an article that’s circulated on my social media feeds — on why black women don’t owe men a “hello” — here are a few things I’d like to say.

First, and in defense of the article, it in no way condones rude behavior. Before people bash it, I implore you to read it.

Women – Don’t be assholes. If you’re walking down the street and you accidentally, or on purpose, make eye contact with the person walking in the opposite direction and this person offers you a kind, “Hello” or “Good morning” it doesn’t really hurt anything — as a human being with manners — to offer some acknowledgement in response.  Whether it be a full “Hello,” a smile, or a head nod – just be courteous back. Not every kind person on the street is trying to get in your pants.

But guys … Don’t be assholes, either!  Seriously, though, analyze the circumstances, your surroundings,  even the time of day. It’s one thing to ‘extend a kind greeting’ and keep it moving.  It’s another to follow a woman down the block,  at night, who has her headphones on then act indignant when she speeds away at break neck speeds trying to evade you.

She has no way of knowing what’s on your mind or what your intentions areIf all you were really trying to do was “Say hi,” you don’t need to fall in step behind us to do so.

Also, men, a response to your hello does not mean an invitation to follow, harass, or otherwise antagonize someone who just might be trying to get home. Which is really the point.

As far as I know,  there is no anti-saying hello week.

So, yes — maybe we do owe you a response. But we do not owe you a conversation,  or our telephone numbers,  or attention that goes any further than common courtesy. Period.

Yes, you have the right to say hi and not be treated like lepers.

But we have the right to walk down the street in peace as well.

Be kind, but don’t be an asshole. Manners never go out of style.

But … P.S. Our names are not,  have never been, and will never be “pssstt.” ;-)

Anti-Street Harassment week is from April 12-18.  For more info: Visit http://www.stopstreetharassment.org

~~SUMMARY~~

One encounter changed them both. She discovered the lifestyle. He left it.

Ten years later, they meet again.

Chelsea Dunn is excited to start over in San Francisco. Her best friend Kayla lives there, and Chelsea gets a warm welcome into a new BDSM community. If only the man she’s been infatuated with for so long was as welcoming. It’s just her luck, really. She’s never been able to connect with anyone enough to let her guard down fully, and it looks like that won’t change.

Rio Kelly has only recently returned to the scene, but he steers clear of emotional attachments. He’s grown jaded and cynical over the years, and he’s resigned himself to be alone. Even when he sees a ghost from his past. Even when that ghost is the very same girl who changed everything for him a decade ago.

But can he stay away when she shows up at his play party with another Dom?

~~Add To TBR List~~

~~Excerpt~~

An hour after the scene has ended, I’m back in my corset dress, and Dante is satisfied with the aftercare. I’ve told him bits and pieces about why I couldn’t get into the scene like I had done last time we played, which I think is why he ultimately lets me go. The sadist even guilt-tripped me into telling him.

“How can I be a good Dom to you if I don’t know what upsets you in a scene?” he’d asked.

Bastard.

But bastard or not, I’m quick to accept the invitation to a play party next weekend. Maybe a little fun away from Switch will help. A friend of Dante’s is hosting it, and the theme is Ancient Rome.

The music is loud and the dance floor is packed with people dancing, grinding, engaging in foreplay—oh, screw that. Literally. One Domme has her sub giving her oral, and another pair is full-on fucking.

My mouth quirks up a bit in amusement, and I walk over to the bar where I know Kayla’s waiting for me. I’ve decided to simply take all her questions and answer as best as I can. Then we can move on with our lives.

I find her alone, though I catch the bartender keeping an eye on her. And she’s too fucking cute, trying to slip the end of a straw into her gagged mouth.

“Trouble, pipsqueak?” I cram into the spot next to her, ignoring the scoff from someone behind me. “Maybe your Sprite can wait until Nicholas has taken off the gag.”

She mumbles something, only to roll her eyes since I obviously can’t hear what she’s saying.

“Where’s Brayden?”

More mumbling and some gesturing for the exit. I’m guessing Brayden’s gone home already. Then she huffs and hops off her stool before she grabs my hand and begins dragging me in that direction.

“Kayla!” the bartender yells. “You’re not allowed to leave my sight!”

She points upward, so I assume we’re going up the stairs. Nicholas’s office is there, I remember. It’s where I said a quick see-ya-later to a half-asleep Kayla last week.

Speaking of her…

She tries to talk again, and she gestures wildly in order to make sense.

She doesn’t.

“Ugh! Weh-weh-wahh.” At last, she gives up.

I snicker. “Was that supposed to be ‘never mind,’ Kayla?”

She nods sullenly as we reach the landing and wipes her mouth. Next, she places a finger over it, indicating…well, that we’re probably about to eavesdrop.

I narrow my eyes at her. “Who’re we listening in on?”

She blinks innocently, which is total bullshit. A part of me is already annoyed ’cause I know she wouldn’t be this urgent unless it was about Rio.

I hiss. “Is Nicholas in there with Rio?”

Leaving her coyness—and patience, I guess—behind, she snarls and pushes me toward the door.

Part annoyed…part fucking intrigued…it doesn’t take much for me to glue half my face to the door, and Kayla follows with glee sparking up her light blues.

“…would’ve told you sooner,” Nicholas is saying, chuckling, “had you only been answering your phone.”

Kayla shoots me a superior look, as if to say I’m not the only one immature enough to dodge calls.

“I still can’t believe it.” Rio sounds…tired. Tired and aggravated. “It’s fucking with my head.” To hear him speak again is indescribable. There’s no forgetting that accent. Mostly American, the nondescript kind we get on TV, but with a hint of Australian and Irish. “Nick, I…I don’t want her here.”

I recoil as if I’ve been slapped and take a couple steps back.

It feels like I’ve been slapped.

I’m not arrogant, but I’m not stupid, either. Of course he’s talking about me.

Kayla appears irritated, hopefully on my behalf, but then she widens her eyes and quickly waves me forward again. She points to the door.

So I sigh and listen again, even though I’d rather go home and eat ice cream until I pass out.

“She’s the reason you left the scene, isn’t she?”

What? Why would—

“No,” Rio growls.

“Easy, tiger,” I mutter.

Nicholas laughs. “I’m sorry, my friend, but this is hilarious. And sad. We both are. You know, I went through this exact same thing with Amand—”

“She’s not the bloody reason,” Rio replies angrily. “I don’t know what the fuck happened back then, but…” He lets out another growl, and a thump follows.

“No need to take out your anger on my furniture,” Nicholas says mildly. “I won’t leave Liam watching over Kayla much longer, so unless there’s something else…?”

I arch a brow at Kayla. You’re in trouble, girl.

She just shrugs, although there’s a little wince, too.

“So she’s staying,” Rio states flatly. “She lives here now.”

Sorry to disappoint, asshole.

“Yes. Chelsea is staying. And you better respect her, Rio.” The warning in Nicholas’s voice makes me a little misty-eyed. He’s looking out for me. The fondness in Kayla’s eyes tells me she loves that about her fiancé. “You’re one of my closest friends, but if you refuse to tell me why her being here is so upsetting, I can’t help you.”

It’s clear that Rio won’t talk, so I nudge Kayla back and nod at the stairs.

Time to go home.

Cara Dee Profile PicThere aren’t many things better than picking up my Kindle and getting completely sucked into a whole new world—where words morph into images and characters’ moods suddenly reflect my own. Aside from good plot and writing, for me, it boils down to relatable characters.

As a writer, I’m not finished until the men and women in my books come to life, until I can see them as real people, until I can connect with them. Which means I write what I want to read: everyday heroes and heroines who have the same struggles we all do. They evolve, have flaws, make mistakes and amends, learn, and find the endings they fight for.

Those are the characters who take the readers on a journey away from work, laundry, grocery shopping, and to-do lists.

When I’m not writing, researching, or brainstorming, I’m either planning my next trip (never-ending bucket list!), reading, watching hockey, or spending time with family and friends.

*Spotlight* Broken Chords (Love in London #2) by @CarrieElks

Title: Broken Chords
Series: Love in London #2
Author: Carrie Elks
Genre: Adult Romance
Release Date: February 26, 2015
Cover Designed by: Okay Creations
Lara knows she should feel lucky. Married to the man of her dreams, with a gorgeous new baby, she should be enjoying her happy-ever-after. But she never expected motherhood to be so difficult, or for her life to change so dramatically.
Alex has it all: hot, tattooed looks, a beautiful wife, and a band that’s finally getting noticed. A lucrative offer of a US tour should be the icing on the cake. But as he leaves the country, distance isn’t the only thing that starts to pull their relationship apart.
With half a world dividing them, Alex and Lara have to battle for a marriage they once took for granted.
Broken Chords is the second story in the Love in London series but can be read completely as a stand-alone.
Though it’s a series, it’s not a serial and there are no cliffhangers, each book features a different couple!

“You want one?” he asked, cupping his hand to shade his match from the slight breeze.
“I don’t smoke. It’s a disgusting habit.” I smiled, letting him know I was flirting more than anything. Trying to wind him up.
He stared at me, throwing the burnt-out match into the ashtray. Already, I’d noticed Alex had this intense way of making me feel as if nothing else mattered. That I was the only interesting thing in the room—or in this case, the street.
“You’re one of those, then,” he said.
“One of what?”
“A crusader.” He inhaled deeply, then let the smoke drift out of his lips. Even I had to admit he looked sexy.
His words made me grin. I was anything but; smoking rarely bothered me at all. “I don’t kiss boys who smoke,” I said.
The corner of his lip twitched up. He leaned forward, still staring intently. “That’s good. I don’t want you kissing them.”
“You’re a boy who smokes,” I pointed out.
This time a full-on smirk broke out on his face. “I’m the exception that proves the rule, sweetheart.”
The way he said it made my heart hammer against my chest. There was something about Alex Cartwright that made me feel breathless. I wasn’t used to boys like him, ones who oozed sexuality out of every pore. Until then my boyfriends had been more friend than boy. Low key, almost feminine
Alex didn’t have a feminine bone in his body.
“What makes you think I want to kiss you, anyway?”
“You’re the one who brought up kissing, not me.” Another cocky response. “Not to mention the fact you keep looking at my mouth and licking your lips. I can tell you want to eat me for breakfast.”
The image his words conjured up made me choke on my coffee. I spluttered the hot liquid out. Alex started to laugh.
“Kissing. I was still talking about kissing.”

~~SUMMARY~~
Warning: This story contains violence and scenes of an explicit, erotic nature between two men and is intended for adults, 18+.

Austin Huntley and Cameron Nash are like night and day. One is a family man, works in a nice office, drives an expensive car, and is content to be content. The other one is an antisocial car mechanic with a short fuse.

Some things don’t change. Others definitely do.

After surviving a five-month long kidnapping together, they struggle to return to normalcy, all while realizing that they’re more drawn to each other than they ever could’ve imagined.

“I know I’m not normal, but I’m not fucking stupid.”

“Define normal,” Austin countered quietly, meeting Cam in the doorway. “And for not being normal, you’re the only person in the world who makes sense right now. What does that say about me?”

~~Excerpt~~
Cam was in purgatory when someone woke him up. Disoriented and ready to fight for his life, he flew out of his chair and pounced on the fucker touching his arm. Vision blurry, he gripped Psycho by the throat and they ended up on the floor—
“Cam!”
What the fuck?
The sound of Austin’s voice made Cam slow down his movements.
“Jesus Christ, Cam,” Austin growled. And with a force Cam couldn’t compete against, he ended up on his back, his shoulder blades digging into the wooden boards of the patio. Shit. Patio. He was back home. Not hell. Not that metal cage. Austin was here. They were safe.
Cam released a choked breath and tried to relax under Austin’s body.
Austin must have noticed. He loosened his grip on Cam but didn’t move away. Now Austin wasn’t holding him down to defend himself, it seemed. It was to comfort. He leaned down and cupped Cam’s cheek and rested their foreheads together. It was a contact that had worked for them before.
The next time Austin spoke, it was gentler. “Talk to me, Cam. You’re a mess.” He brushed his thumb over the shadows under Cam’s eyes.
“I’m sorry,” he muttered in a strangled voice. “Fuck. I don’t—” I don’t know what’s wrong with me.
Well, he had a guess, but he refused to go there. His shrink had told all of them about PTSD, and Cam didn’t want to add another issue to his already-long list. PTSD was a condition that felt so permanent—the last thing he needed in his life. But it had been like this whenever someone startled him awake, so he knew he needed to address the problem.
At the hospital, it had been his brother. Then, a few days after he’d been released, he’d hooked up with one of the chicks who never stopped calling him. He had fallen asleep at her apartment after a mediocre fuck, and when she’d woken him up, she had been on the receiving end of a fist.
He’d felt beyond shitty. Savannah had been understanding—had even tried to comfort Cam while he took her to the emergency room for her split lip, and she’d offered to drive him to his shrink’s office afterward. Cam had passed on the offer, apologized a hundred times, and then ended their casual relationship.
He wasn’t gonna take a chance with Kim or Brian, the other two he’d hooked up with from time to time. He’d ended things with them, too. Kim had cried, reminding Cam of how women could get—so much for casual fucking—and Brian had been oddly quiet.
There was also another reason Cam had already planned on never seeing Brian again, and that reason was currently lying on top of him. Being with a guy would cause Cam to think about things other than being friends with Austin, a man he needed in his life.
“Have you spoken to Gale about this?” Austin asked as he slowly removed himself from Cam. They went to the same psychologist—all the surviving guys did. “You should. It could be PTSD.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Cam grumbled and pulled himself up. Giving Austin a hand, he helped him up, too. “Sorry I attacked.” He adjusted the towel on his hips.
“I can take it.”
The two men stood before each other, close enough to touch, and maintained eye contact. It made Cam wonder if Austin found their relationship odd. ‘Cause closeness was as easy as breathing to them. So was touching. Personal space was usually so fucking important to Cam, but with Austin…
Austin broke the spell, clearing his throat, and plopped down in his chair again. Then he pulled out a bottle of painkillers from a side pocket of his shorts, and Cam gave him a cocked eyebrow.
“Headache,” Austin answered. “These glasses are taking some getting used to. Plus, the sun…” He shook his head and sighed. “You know how it is.”

“What caused that smile, gorgeous?” Alex moves back towards me, pulling me into his free arm. His hand cups my hip, fingers digging in deliciously as he bends his head to my neck and presses his lips there. I breathe him in, fresh and clean from a shower, hair glistening and moulded into an almost quiff.

He’s all gel and rolled-up sleeves. There’s no collar on his t-shirt, so I can see the dark inked scrolls that lick up from his chest and shoulders peeking out from the material. Even though Max is in his arms, I can’t help but trace them with my fingers, feeling him tense up as I flutter my hand against his skin.

“Maybe Max should have a nap.” Alex’s voice is thick. “He seems really tired.”

Max starts babbling again; sleep is clearly the furthest thing from his mind.

“He’s not due another nap until this evening.” I try not to laugh at the disappointment on Alex’s face. He stares at me through narrowed eyes, and I smile in response. I’m caught somewhere in the middle of turned-on and amused.

“He seems really tired,” Alex repeats. “And those lips of yours look really empty.”

I know where he’s going with this; I feel like playing.

“They are. Really empty. Desperate to be filled.”

“Then put the baby to bed,” he growls.

I lean forward and press my mouth to Alex’s. He kisses me back, his movements heated. Cupping my chin, he angles my head, slowly running his tongue along the seam of my lips. “Put the baby to bed, now, Lara.”
